Welcome and thank you for considering me for your family portrait session.
The following should help you work out what you want from your portrait session, including tips for making it an enjoyable experience, right through to choosing the prints for your album and wall display. However, if you're still not sure, I'm happy to make an appointment for you to have a chat - the best results are due to well thought out personalised sessions, which can only come from lots of discussion about your family.
If you haven't already, please have a look at the gallery - this may help spark some ideas and give an indication of the location which best suits your family.

Helpful tips:
Be happy! If you're relaxed and cheerful it's likely to rub off on the kids. Sounds simple but it works. And it's a helpful reminder because it's easy to get stressed trying to keep them clean!
No smile practice. The best photos include the most candid, natural expressions. You can help by thinking of all the things that make your kids laugh – funny memories and anecdotes to induce a giggle etc
We have no set rules with regards to clothing, but try to avoid clothing that is too busy – heavy logo's spots, stripes and busy patterns will take the attention in the images away from your faces. Little girls are always gorgeous in an a-line dress, and boys denim and a collared shirt. The ladies… it's often an idea to cover the tops of your arms with a a wrap, jacket etc - It's amazing how many women hate their bare arms! Teenagers (and often younger), we understand that there are sometimes clashes in opinions as to what looks good and what looks cool - it's really not worth having an argument about it, and will often put them in a mood not worth photographing!
In summary, keep it simple, and try and think about the location and the intended look and feel of the images. If you're not sure, please ask! Props that help tell your story are welcome, as are the four legged members of the family!
Choosing a location
Think about where you enjoy spending time as a family (beach, home, bush, park, city or rural). It helps if you’re all familiar with the location you choose. You can choose a location that is special to your family, or take inspiration from some of my favourite spots:
Michael Perry Reserve, Stonyfell
Linde Reserve, Stepney
Penfold Park, Magill
Marybank Farm, Rostrevor
Blackwood Forest, Blackwood
Semaphore or West Beaches
Parklands around Adelaide CBD, including Botanic Park.
And in the Clare Valley - Riesling Trail, Mintaro, Auburn, Clare Show Grounds or your property!
Choosing your photos
This is your chance to choose your favourite photographs and create artworks for your home. If possible, it is best done in your home where you can view your images and discuss which walls they'll suit. I can also meet you in my Norwood office if it suits better. Put aside an hour of your time to carefully consider your selection.
Here are some helpful tips to get the best results:
Try to get all decision makers in the family along to the appointment (so no-one gets in trouble!)
Although children are most welcome, some parents find their presence distracting, so you might consider leaving your kids with a friend or family member.
Before your appointment, wander around your home and choose the best spot(s) to display your photos. Measure the space and bring the measurements with you.
Also, check out what we have on offer before your visit, by going to the Products and Prices page.
Think about choosing photos for your extended family. Perhaps there are birthday or Christmas presents to tick off a gift list! Consider the type of shots (individual, children, family) and the sizes that would best suit them.
A 50% deposit is required at this ordering appointment and can be paid by cash, cheque or credit card.
